OmniBudgets is now live for your personal and shared finances
Today we’re opening OmniBudgets to everyone — a financial app built for you and the people who matter in your life.
Track income and expenses, manage budgets, and share access where it’s needed, all in one place. No more scattered spreadsheets, random screenshots from banking apps, or “rules” that live only in your head. OmniBudgets is here to bring structure and calm to your money — without feeling like an accounting class.
Why we built OmniBudgets
Most of us don’t have a single, unified “financial life”. We have:
- personal expenses and savings,
- side projects or freelance income,
- a shared budget with a partner or family,
- one-off things like a renovation or a big trip.
When everything ends up in one endless list of transactions, it’s hard to answer simple questions like:
- “Can we afford this trip?”
- “How is the renovation doing against plan?”
- “What’s the real profit from freelance after taxes?”
OmniBudgets exists to separate those contexts — while still letting you see the whole picture when you need it.
Finance Spaces: money in clear contexts
At the core of OmniBudgets is the idea of a Finance Space.
A Finance Space is a dedicated area for one part of your financial life, with its own:
- transactions,
- budgets and limits,
- rules and notes,
- members and permissions,
- reports and summaries.
Examples of Spaces:
- Personal — everyday income, bills, subscriptions, daily spending.
- Freelance — client income, tax reserve, tools, simple P&L.
- Trip — travel budget, hotels and transport, daily limits.
- Renovation — materials, contractors, stages, overruns.
Numbers don’t get mixed across Spaces. Each Space owns its data and decisions.
You can share a Space with others without exposing your entire financial life — “here’s our Trip Space”, not “here’s everything I earn and spend”.
If you’d like to dive deeper into the concept, there’s a separate post about Finance Spaces on this blog.
Simple on the surface, solid under the hood
OmniBudgets is designed to feel straightforward in daily use: you add income and expenses, assign them, and see where you stand. Under that simple flow are accounting principles that keep your records precise and consistent.
In practice, that means:
- actions feel familiar: add transaction, move between accounts, apply a rule;
- balances reconcile and categories add up the way you expect;
- reports reflect what you actually see inside each Space.
You don’t have to think like an accountant — you just get accounting-grade accuracy without the complexity when you need to rely on the numbers.
Sharing money without friction
Money quickly stops being just “personal”: there are partners, families, and shared projects. OmniBudgets is built with that in mind.
You can:
- create Finance Spaces that belong to two or more people;
- invite others to collaborate in a Space (for example, a partner or family Space);
- keep personal Spaces private and share only what’s relevant;
- discuss decisions while looking at the same, up-to-date numbers.
Instead of sending each other screenshots or arguing about “who paid what”, you share the Space and work from one shared source of truth.
Flexible, not overwhelming
We want OmniBudgets to adapt to how you think about money, not the other way around.
You get:
- categories and tags that match your mental model of spending;
- budgets and limits where planning matters, and simple logging where it doesn’t;
- clear summaries so you can make decisions quickly, without drowning in widgets and dashboards.
One Space might run with detailed budgets, another as a lightweight log, another focused on rules and alerts. You choose the level of detail that makes sense.
What’s next
Launch is not the finish line; it’s the starting pistol.
From here, we’ll keep evolving OmniBudgets with:
- more automation where it genuinely saves time,
- deeper but still readable analytics,
- better tools for collaboration around money,
- small quality-of-life improvements that add up over time.
Your feedback will shape what comes first: what works, what feels heavy, and what’s missing for your particular setup.
Thank you for being early
If you’re reading this near launch, you’re early — and early users influence the product more than any roadmap.
Thank you for trying OmniBudgets and not leaving your finances on autopilot. You want a clear picture, real goals, and a way to move toward them — and that’s exactly who we’re building this product for.
